What you’ll do

Only two days and dreaming of a night in the desert? Zagora is the most accessible desert from Marrakech. It isn’t Merzouga’s sea of dunes, but the road crosses some of Morocco’s finest scenery and the night in camp is still magical.

Day 1 — Marrakech → Zagora

Over the Tichka pass, a visit of the ksar of Aït Benhaddou, lunch, then the Drâa Valley with miles of palm groves dotted with kasbahs. In the late afternoon, a camel ride to camp for sunset. Dinner (tagine), music around the fire and a night in a tent.

Day 2 — Zagora → Marrakech

Sunrise over the desert, breakfast and a camel ride back. A stop in a Drâa village, then Ouarzazate and back to Marrakech in the evening.

Shared or private

The daily shared departure travels by minibus (17 seats). In a private 4x4 you choose the stops, the pace and a more comfortable camp. Deluxe (private bathroom) and luxury tents are available as upgrades.

For big sand dunes we recommend the 3-day Merzouga tour instead.
