What you’ll do

An hour from Marrakech, the Ourika Valley feels like another world: fresh air, walnut trees, terraced gardens and mud-brick villages clinging to the slopes of the High Atlas. It’s the easiest day trip to discover the mountains with your family.

The day

  • Stop in Tnine Ourika on market day (Monday) to watch farmers selling vegetables and livestock.
  • Visit a traditional Berber house: wood-fired kitchen, bread oven, granary and tea with the family.
  • Women’s argan cooperative: from nut to oil, from handwork to the finished product.
  • Arrive in Setti Fatma and hike to the waterfalls with a local guide: 30–45 minutes to the first fall, scrambling over rocks. The keenest carry on to the next ones.
  • Lunch on a riverside terrace (included on the private tour, optional on the shared tour).

Shared or private

The shared departure travels by air-conditioned minibus (17 seats max.). The private option lets you pick the time, the stops and how long you walk, with a driver-guide just for you.

Is the hike difficult?

It is short but over rocks. With good shoes it suits children from about 7.
