What you’ll do

It’s an early start, but the memory lasts a lifetime. Taking off from the plain north-east of Marrakech, the balloon rises at dawn over Berber villages, olive groves and riverbeds, facing the Atlas peaks as they turn pink in the first light.

How it goes

  • Pickup from your hotel between 5 and 6 am depending on the season.
  • Tea and biscuits while the balloon is inflated — a show in itself.
  • Flight of about 1 hour, between a few metres (to wave at the shepherds) and 1,000 metres. Every flight is different: the pilot follows the wind.
  • A gentle landing, then a 4x4 back to the tent.
  • Berber breakfast: msemen, baghrir, amlou, olive oil, eggs, orange juice and tea.
  • Your flight certificate, then back at your hotel around 10:30 am.

Classic, VIP or private

The Classic basket carries up to 16 passengers. VIP limits the basket to 8, with breakfast in a private tent. The private flight is for your couple or family only — the perfect gift for a proposal.

Pilots are certified and balloons approved by Morocco’s civil aviation authority.

What happens if it is windy?

The pilot decides on the morning. If the flight is cancelled you choose a new date or a full refund.

Is it cold up there?

It is chilly before dawn, but the burner warms the basket. A fleece is enough.

Can children fly?

Yes, from age 5 and if their shoulders are above the basket edge (about 1.20 m tall).
