Stony hills of the Agafay desert

Agafay is not a sand-dune desert but a plateau of stone and ochre earth cut by small valleys, between Lake Lalla Takerkoust and the first foothills of the Atlas. Being so close to Marrakech makes it the ideal place to taste the silence of the desert without spending a day on the road.

People come here for:

  • a camel ride at sunset, when the hills turn pink;
  • quad or buggy rides on the tracks between villages;
  • dinner in a tent with Berber music under the stars;
  • a night in a luxury camp with views of the snow-capped Atlas in winter.

Nights are much cooler than in the city: bring a warm layer, even in May.
